I believe your unique skills and strengths would be a perfect fit to help drive this societal movement forward, and I would love for you to be a part of it.

I am hosting a Big Tings Society Workshop on Monday 25th November, 2024- this will be where I share the plan to bring this movement to life, reach out for support and design a actionable plan for 2025. This workshop is an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and co-create the future of Big Tings.

Please take a moment to explore our website and kaupapa to see if this movement aligns with your values and vision. If this vision excites you and you’re ready to be part of something impactful, we’d love for you to join us. Your presence and input would make a significant difference in shaping the future of Big Tings.

If you can’t make it but still want to be part of the committee, please let me know, and we’ll keep you in the loop for future opportunities. Feel free to RSVP or reach out with any questions—I’d love to hear from you!

Big Tings isn’t just another project—it’s a societal movement built on culture, connection, and collective empowerment. By joining, you’ll be part of something groundbreaking.

Fa’afetai lava for considering this proposal, I hope to hear from you soon.

Our Structure

We are an INCORPORATED SOCIETY with a social enterprise business model, which means we are a legally registered organisation committed to creating positive societal movement.

As an incorporated society, we operate with transparency and accountability, guided by a dedicated committee that ensures we remain aligned with our mission of fostering wellness, cultural empowerment, and mental health support.

Our social enterprise model allows us to generate revenue through our initiatives, which we reinvest back into the community to fund projects and programs that make a real difference.

This structure enables us to blend purpose and profitability, creating lasting impact for the communities we serve.

Our Mission

Big Tings aims to be a central hub for wellness for rangatahi (youth) and whānau in New Zealand and beyond, transforming perceptions of mental health and connecting individuals to existing resources.

Our mission is to create a one stop shop for all tings wellness for rangatahi (youth), whanau and whaiora (those seeking wellness) through connection.

While the current system is overwhelmed, we focus on connecting people to resources rather than duplicating services. We believe that learning about wellness can be fun and engaging through interactive events.

Healing through connection.

Our Vision

Big Tings aims to serve as the bridge between the community and the education and mental health systems, fostering an environment where everyone can contribute their strengths in a collaborative and cohesive manner. We are aiming to connect mental, cultural and holistic practices to ensure whaiora (those seeking wellness) get access to mental health support that is clinically indicated, culturally appropriate and within a timely manner.

Our vision is to advance the movement toward an equitable system, ensuring that Māori and Pasifika communities have access to culturally appropriate and sensitive support. We seek to educate, rangatahi (youth), and whānau about the significance of wellness and help them understand the workings of their minds.

Connection is the key

Workshop

November 25th 2024 5pm - 8pm

I’m excited to invite you to explore what Big Tings is all about—diving into the story, mission, and vision for the future. Our goal is to empower people by connecting them with services and initiatives through a range of Big Tings events.

Our events will focus on key pillars of connection, helping individuals engage in the areas that will make 2025 a year of connection. This is a powerful opportunity to engage with and support the community.

This workshop will serve as a committee session, where I’ll share more about Big Tings Society, and together, we’ll brainstorm and develop a clear, actionable plan for 2025. We’ll also take the first steps towards forming the committee.

This is a bold and exciting opportunity, and we’re looking for those who are ready to commit to this movement. If this aligns with your vision, we’d love for you to join us. If not, that’s perfectly fine—there’s no obligation, and I respect your journey and capacity.

If you can’t attend but are still interested in being part of the committee, let me know, and we’ll keep you informed about upcoming opportunities to get involved.

Food will be provided, and car parking is available.

I look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions or want to dive deeper into the vision, feel free to reach out. I’m here to support and provide any information you need.

The Pillars of Connection represent the key aspects of holistic wellness, each intertwined to create a balanced and thriving life. At Big Tings, we align our initiatives, events, and products with these pillars—Family, Spiritual, Social, Environmental, Physical, Cultural, and Emotional—to help individuals assess and strengthen these areas for a more fulfilling life.

We embrace the Te Whare Tapa Whā and Fonofale models, which offer a holistic approach to wellness, balancing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. These models, rooted in Māori and Pasifika traditions, guide our services and ensure that our initiatives are culturally sensitive and impactful for all. We aim to create a more equitable system by integrating these models into our services, ensuring that everyone benefits from an inclusive and comprehensive approach to wellness.

By nurturing connections across these pillars, we foster belonging, purpose, and resilience, empowering individuals to thrive mentally, physically, and emotionally. To learn more about our approach and how we integrate these models into our work, visit our About Page.
